In the Norwegian town of Konsberg, a man using an arrow killed five people and injured several others.
Four women and a man between the ages of 50 and 70 were killed and two others, including a police officer, were injured in the attack in Kingsburg, according to Reuters.
Police say the attacker is likely to be a victim of extremism, having converted.
"The assailant has been taken into custody, but according to the information we have received so far, he has carried out all the operations alone," Dawn newspaper quoted Chief of Police Owend As as telling reporters.

He said that the police was investigating the incident from all angles including terrorism.
The incident took place in Konsberg, a "large area" in southeastern Norway, with a population of 28,000, 68 km from the capital Oslo.
Regarding the attacks, the police directorate said that officers across the country have been ordered to carry weapons immediately after the incident.
Norwegian police are usually unarmed, but officers have access to guns and rifles when needed.

The police directorate said in a statement that "this is an additional precaution. Police have not yet received any indication of a change in the threat at the national level."
Nawra's law and public security ministry said its minister had received reports of the attack and was closely monitoring the situation.
